Climate change

What’s at Stake? Climate Change

As Sir David Attenborough stated, climate change is humanity’s greatest threat in thousands of years, and it could lead to the collapse of civilisations and the extinction of much of the natural world.

Saving standing biodiverse forests is the most effective way to mitigate climate change. Restoring and rewilding large areas of diminished, denuded and unprotected forests, believed to be between 200,000 to 300,000 sq kms in India alone, will help arrest this ongoing crisis.

Protecting tiger habitats and other sanctuaries provides the world’s most effective carbon storage system. Each hectare protected in Corbett Tiger Reserve, India, is valued at over US$220 annually in carbon capacity.

Linking Conservation with Communities

Conservation isn’t just about trees and tigers. People are at the heart of the solution.

Build conservation-based rural economies with nature-based activities.
Ensure communities gain livelihood benefits from protecting forests and wildlife.
Make rural populations partners and guardians in climate action.
